Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Benefits
California Senate Bill 855 requires health plans and insurers to cover medically necessary treatment for all mental health and substance use disorders under the same terms and conditions used for other medical conditions. This includes all mental health and substance use disorders in the most recent versions of the International Classification of Diseases or the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
